Top Ten Things On My Reading Wishlist

1) More New Adult

By this I mean more than just the average NA stories we have. More variety. I want New Adult to grow as big as Young Adult, because I see SO much potential there!!

2) Mental Illnesses

I know there are some. Okay, many. But I find it super hard to find them. And to find books about these topics that do not get ruined by superficial and flat writing. Basically, I want more books about these serious topics.

3) More Rainbow Rowell novels

Seriously. There are only three. How am I supposed to live when I finished all of them?

4) More Katie McGarry Novels

see above

5) More serious relationships

I am so sick of reading about people becoming a couple. I want to see people overcome struggles in their already existing relationships. No, insta-love, no 300 pages worth of tiptoeing around each other.

6) More sturdy relationships

You know, books where the relationship is not the main focus. Where the relationship actually works and is the supporting, not the struggling point in a characters' life (see Allegiant).

7) Boarding schools

And not just paranormal ones!!!

8) Books with City Flair

I know small towns are probably more relatable for the bored-to-death suburban teen. I know they are/wer for me. But I'd really like to read about Gossip Girl style books again, middle of New York, London, Paris, ...

9) More Asia

There is just no Asia in YA. I want China and Japan and Shanghai and Hong Kong and Singapour. Just please!

10) More family issues

Family is so important for most young adults! I want more big families, more family issues, more family stories. It's not always about boys!!

  1. Oh I so didn't think to say more Paranormal NA! I was struggling with the topic as it was it seemed!

    Here's my Tuesday post

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Mental illness books usually end up being great because authors have to spend so much time accurately portraying the illness and how it affects other characters. It would be cool if more authors decided to raise awareness about the mental illnesses. Great list!

  3. A new RR is coming out this summer! I'm hopeful it will be as good as E&P.

I tweaked the prompt and a book-ish wishlist of book-ish things I wish I had. Hope you'll stop by!

  4. Boarding schools made my list too! You can just never go wrong with a boarding school setting. :)

  5. I'd like to read more books happening in big cities. That's why I think I'll read Sex and the City novels, maybe even Gossip Girl. Like the shows (though I quit GG in season 4 or so).
    Nice list!

  6. Great picks! I also wanted more New Adult but more than just romance, it needs more variety in it - I'd love a New Adult dystopian or something. I definitely agree about books where the relationship isn't the most important thing. Great list :)

  7. That is one great wishlist!

  8. I feel you about relationship drama being overdone. I would like to read about a sturdy relationship too. Like a really nice supportive guy. I also need more Rainbow Rowell in my life... like NOW!!!

Thanks for stopping by My TTT

  9. This is a really great list! I definitely agree that I would like to read more about mental illnesses. I'm sure there are tons out there, but they're either too hard to find, or its only touched upon and not a huge issue. I haven't read any Rainbow Rowell yet, but I've heard great things! I'll have to find a copy of one soon (:

  10. Mental Illness, Katie McGarry... both agree agree agree!!! I absolutely agree about the city flair as well. I've only just started watching Gossip Girl (yes, I know, I totally missed the bandwagon on that series) but I'm going to pick up the books as well. I love the wole New York upper class living.
