Hello and a happy Feature§&Follow friday everyone!
Today's question is:
This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother’s Day, in celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?
I think almost half of the FFs I've done so far featured The Princess Diaries, but yes-I'm picking it again. Mia's relationship with her mom is very open but they both get to keep their privacy, too which I find amazing!
I do actually like the relationship that Mia has with her mom in If I Stay by Gayle Forman. Mia's mom seems very supportive (actually doesn't her whole family just act so adorably all the time???) and they get along which is rare - I think - in most ya books. I just noticed, by the way, scrolling through my Read books on Goodreads that most of the characters don't even have moms anymore...weird. I think there should be a lot more moms in ya fiction :)
I haven't had a chance to read The Princess Diaries yet, I really want to though especially after reading this! Check out my FF @ http://best-of-ya.blogspot.com/2012/05/feature-follow-friday-20.html. I'm a new follower by the way!
ReplyDeleteI loved this series! It sounds cheesy at first, but it's hilarious!

True! If I Stay actually inspired trying harder to be nice to my family. It's so easy to forget how much I love them at times...
DeleteGreat choices! Thanks for dropping by; returned the follow. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a tendency to pick the same book over and over depending on what I'm currently obsessed with.
ReplyDeleteMy follow friday. Please visit!
I would have never thought to pick TPD, but yeah, that's a great one:) New follower, care to return the favor? If you'd like of course:)

New follower! I love Princess Diaries! And loved If I Stay too! I agree that there is alot of dysfunctional families in ya fiction...I guess that makes for interesting reads, but good mom relationships are nice to read about too. Here is my FF if you'd like to follow back: http://theonceandfuturelibrarian.blogspot.com/2012/05/follow-friday-mothers-day-edition.html
ReplyDeleteActually, most of the books I enjoyed reading had dysfunctional families. Then again, sometimes I wonder if they just appear so screwed up because you get to know them so well in the books. I'm guessing most families go through phases like that...
DeleteThis is only the second time I've read Princess Diaries as an answer to this question and I do agree with the choice.
