Top Ten Favorite Authors In X Genre
I chose contemporary! Because apart from Fantasy this is my favorite genre and I definitely have been reading a LOT ore contemporaries than fantasy books :D
1) Sarah Dessen
...because her books have just been lifesavers for me throughout those last few years. She's amazing!
2) Meg Cabot
...because her books have made me laugh harder than anyone else's. She taught me not to take life or myself too seriously and even though I don't relate to her books AS much anymore I still think I wouldn't have survived my tween years without them...
3) Gemma Halliday
...because she's the Meg Cabot of my late teen years. Hilariously funny books, always make me laugh.
4) Sarah Ockler
...very new on my list! I've only read Twenty Boy Summer but can only recommend that amazing novel!
5) Sara Shepard
...because her books have that DELICIOUS mixture of girly gossip and creepiness!
6) Gayle Forman
I have only ever read If I Stay, but it was so. freaking. beautiful.
7)Katie McGarry
see above. Oh my.
8) Ellen Hopkins
Because I find it scary how real her stories always appear to me.
9) Molly M Backes
Because The Princesses of Iowa was so much like I expected it to be but a lot better than I ever thought it could have been done :)
10) John Green
ALTHOUGH I wasn't a big fan of Looking for Alaska which is the only book of his I've ever read. I feel like have to reread it soon, though. I'm pretty sure the reason I wasn't very impressed is that I didn't really get it.
I adore your list! I love Sarah Dessen too, but it's been years since I read her books and I always forget to add her to my lists.
ReplyDeleteAhh, shame on you! How can you forget to add one of my favorite authors?? :D
DeleteGreat list! I didn't do contemporary, but I love a lot of those authors too! :D My TTTs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Tuesday! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment :)
DeleteFantastic list! I really want to read The Fault in Our Stars, and LOVED Pushing the Limits!!!

I want to read The Fault in Our Stars, too! But it'll probably take me a while...somehow I didn't when it came out because I wanted to wait for the paperback edition and then...I din't get the book at all :(
DeleteWould you die if I said that I am a HUGE contemp fan but NEVER read a Sarah Dessen?? I know, it's crazy but true!!
ReplyDeleteLove your list! Katie McGarry ALMOST made mine but I decided to go with authors that have rocked me for at least 2 books...LOL. She is AMAZING though!
There you have it. Dead. Like a stone. Just kidding - but you definitely need to read a Sarah Dessen...I can't imagine life without her books... *shakes her head, wondering*
DeleteI did YA Contemporary too, and I've read about a gazillion posts, and you are the first one besides myself to mention Ellen Hopkins! How can that even be? Is there something wrong with the world? I love the others we share, and I haven't read some of the ones we don't. I will definitely be checking them out!

Also, I have a FANTASTIC giveaway of a SIGNED copy Lauren Oliver's new book, THE SPINDLERS, going on HERE!
That's true! I haven't seen Ellen Hopkins in a lot of posts either this week - and it's a shame :) I think she's a genius!
DeleteGreat list! It's funny to see that Contemporary is so popular, since I don't read that much of it. Perhaps that's a sign, because I have some titles on my list (one of them is The fault in our stars!)
ReplyDeleteTTT fairytale authors @thedailyprophecy
Oh, I love contemporary...I don't even know what it is that makes me read it again and again...if you don't read much contemp, I'd recommend Sarah Dessen - you can't go wrong with her books!
DeleteWe share four of the same authors! John Green is awesome, but I prefer Paper Towns over Looking for Alaska. They're both amazing though! I haven't actually read anything by Ellen Hopkins, but I'm planning on rectifying that very, very soon!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
I've heard that from a lot of people. That they prefer Paper Towns, I mean. Which makes me want to read more John Green novels even more!
Deleteyay for contemporary! meg cabot was such a big part of my teenagedom and i love seeing her on this list. fantastic list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! If it wasn't for Meg Cabot, I guess I would've ended up/stayed the wallflower with practically non existent self-confidence :D
