No matter if you're more interested in the Lying Game Series or the Pretty Little Liars - these books have the unique mix of hardcore mystery (Shepard never fails to erase everything I believed to be true!) and juicy rich-kid Gossip Girl- vibe.
This book is SO funny. I promise it will keep you laughing for as long as you read it. It's so easy and light and fluffy that you won't want to put it down, no matter how exhausted - or just lazy - you are.
This one is the perfect fix for when you stare wholes in the air, wishing to go back to the good ol' days of Harry Potter. It's not too heavy, but the different tales and Dumbledore's comments bring you back to that world you want to go back to!
Or any Meg Cabot book, actually. Her writing style will make you laugh at some point and if you're in a personal/self-esteem/whatever kind of crisis, you'll totally feel better about everything. I personally recommend TPD or the Mediator series or her adult chick-lit. I was not such a fan of her All American Girl or Abandon books, though!
I can't believe it's been a year since I read these. Like Meg Cabot, Halliday has an amazingly funny, witty, laid back writing style. Also, the heroine was very cool and down to earth.
I just think this book is so underrated and not talked about enough. This one is kind of funny, but it's definitely suspenseful plot-wise and once you get over the blurry beginning, you can get through it just like that.
I know, I know. Everyone has read it already. Anyway, it's sweet and cute and has so much romance and France and is going to make you feel really, really good!
Umm...can I just say that I suck at this topic? I just scrolled through my READ list and...there are not a lot of fun and light books in there! Weird - I always thought I'd read a lot of those....I guess I'll have to do quite a bit of blog hopping and see which funny and light books I could add to my Wishlist. Do you guys have any recommendations?
I'm planning to read Tales of Beedle the Bard this week as part of a HP readalong! I'm so excited, it's like a short little treat :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't read that book until last December. For some reason, I just never felt like it and then - so many years after the end of that series I felt sooo nostalgic reading it. I even had a tear in my eye :)
DeleteThe Princess Diaries are definitely light and fun books. I probably wouldn't recommend them at this point in my life, but I know when I was in middle school/early high school I certainly enjoyed them.
ReplyDeleteTrue...I tried to reread them a few months ago and figured that it wasn't quite like I remembered. Still, I'm so excited that my little cousins are finally old enough to read them. They saved my life at ages 12 and 13 :)
DeleteI'd love to read The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K Rowling! Where did you get your copy?
ReplyDeleteOur school library :) I don't own a copy yet and all the "real" Harry Potter books I own are mixed up (paperbacks, hardcovers and German editions). Someday, I will get myself the trunk set and all the little books like Quidditich Through the Ages and The Tales. Right now, I'm thinking of building a shrine....but as that would probably be pretty creepy, maybe not :D
DeleteWow you have a cool school library! :D I've got all my HP copies on my kindle and some of them as hardcovers, but I wished I had them all as hardcover! I don't think a shrine would be creepy, it would only show your dedication as a fan. ;)
DeleteI've read so many positive reviews about Geek Girl that I really have to read it! Also, I enjoyed Rosebush. And - shame on me - I haven't read Anna and the French Kiss yet... Have to remedy that soon. Oh, and thanks for stopping by on my blog!

You're welcome! And yep, Geek Girl is hilarious! I seriously did not expect to laugh as much as I did - I had tears in my eyes - and it's Smale's first novel!
DeleteI have Anna on my list, too and anything by Meg Cabot is a good book for fun/light reading. I love the Gemma Halliday mysteries. Great list!

Thanks! Have you read any of Cabot's adult novels yet? I've read one and really enjoyed it...but I'm a bit hesitant to try her series...
DeleteI've read pretty much everything by her. The Heather Wells series (Size 12 isn't Fat is the first) is great and so is the "boy" series which starts with The Boy Next Door. The Queen of Babble Series is also pretty cute. I hated Insatiable and am not loving the Abandoned series, but I still love her.
DeleteI followed via GFC since, as you stated, we seem to have similar tastes. :)
I love that Anna is on so many lists! I am also in love with Meg Cabot/The Princess Diaries <3
ReplyDeleteYesss, Anna was an amazing book! Which makes me want to read Lola and Perkin's new book even more :D
DeleteThe Princess Diaries are such classic reads! I love them! :)
ReplyDeleteI love them, too! They saved my life during 5th/6th/7th grade :)
DeleteI'm loving the Anna and the French Kiss Love I've been seeing! So can't wait for Perkins next book to arrive. I really enjoyed your list! Happy Reading!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm really excited for the new book, too! Especially since I haven't read Lola yet and am planning to purchase them all with their new covers!
DeleteI only read Beedle but I looooved it! Great list, may try the other books as well. :)
