Feature & Follow Friday

FF 2012 Feature & Follow #108

Today's question is:
Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

A Moody Reader? Me? Totally! It's like...bad. Really bad. It starts whenever the book arrives at my doorstep. I start reading it out loud immediately after it's unpacked (even if there are other people with me). If I like it I will continue reading it until I#m so far in that I can't get out anymore (in the meantime I tell myself that I will stop after just this page). If  it does end up on my shelf it will probably have to wait until the fall time if it's a fantasy read because it has to be super stormy and windy and rainy for it. If it's a contemporary book it will have to wait all the way until spring except for when I'm really unhappy and need a character who either feels as sad as I do or who doesn't care a shit about teen drama and teaches me to do the same :)
Could go on and on about this topic. I choose the books I read almost only by moods....

  1. Oh, you're absolutely right! Fantasy should be read during thunderstorms!! Also, I love your Cornelia Funke quote, she's great! I'm a new follower!

    1. Thanks! I'm glad you like the quote - it fits me and my blog perfectly! And yeah - rain dropping on my window, warm snuggle and a mug of tea are perfect companions of a thick fantasy novel!

  2. Ooh fantasy and thunderstorms! That sounds nice! What's not such a hot idea but I do anyway, reading a really really creepy book when you are home alone! OMG I scare myself too many times doing that because I have such a wild imagination!

    1. You're welcome :) Right now I'm watching the Olympic Games, though which makes it wuite difficult to turn off the TV and read a book :)

  4. Haha your reading habits really are controlled by your moods. I just pick up whatever kind of story I am in the mood for.

    1. I know! Sometimes I feel like such a freak! IT#s just that if I just pick a book I can never decide! So I'm like "okay it rains, that means it's going to be fantasy!" :)

    1. Thanks so much for following! And I have a problem with ARCs exactly because of my weird reading habits sometimes. They have to ft my mood a bit, otherwise I'll put them off for a few days...

  9. Hahahahahaha! I love that! I like how you "seasonalize" your books. That's pure brilliance.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. :)

    1. Well, yeah I don't only read conemporary in spring - but I'll definitely read more of it during that time of the year ;) Then again, I wait to read Sara Zarr's How To Save A Life because I think it's set in winter - so I'll read it then :)

    1. Oh, I actually really like contemporary - but I can't read so many in a row, it gets boring. I like to switch genres a bit :)
