Today's question is:
Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?
A Moody Reader? Me? Totally! It's like...bad. Really bad. It starts whenever the book arrives at my doorstep. I start reading it out loud immediately after it's unpacked (even if there are other people with me). If I like it I will continue reading it until I#m so far in that I can't get out anymore (in the meantime I tell myself that I will stop after just this page). If it does end up on my shelf it will probably have to wait until the fall time if it's a fantasy read because it has to be super stormy and windy and rainy for it. If it's a contemporary book it will have to wait all the way until spring except for when I'm really unhappy and need a character who either feels as sad as I do or who doesn't care a shit about teen drama and teaches me to do the same :)
Could go on and on about this topic. I choose the books I read almost only by moods....
Oh, you're absolutely right! Fantasy should be read during thunderstorms!! Also, I love your Cornelia Funke quote, she's great! I'm a new follower!

Thanks! I'm glad you like the quote - it fits me and my blog perfectly! And yeah - rain dropping on my window, warm snuggle and a mug of tea are perfect companions of a thick fantasy novel!
DeleteOoh fantasy and thunderstorms! That sounds nice! What's not such a hot idea but I do anyway, reading a really really creepy book when you are home alone! OMG I scare myself too many times doing that because I have such a wild imagination!

Wow, I freak when I read a very scary book in a room filled with people - I coud never do that when I'm home alone :)
DeleteThanx for visiting my blog! :) You are totally a mood reader! Seriously, you are. lol. Yeah, watching bad reality tv shows really helps! In no time you want to shut down the TV and read a good book!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome :) Right now I'm watching the Olympic Games, though which makes it wuite difficult to turn off the TV and read a book :)
DeleteHaha your reading habits really are controlled by your moods. I just pick up whatever kind of story I am in the mood for.

I know! Sometimes I feel like such a freak! IT#s just that if I just pick a book I can never decide! So I'm like "okay it rains, that means it's going to be fantasy!" :)
DeleteThanks for following me. I'm following you back :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAgreed! Every book I read depends on the mood Im in.

Same here :) If I try to change that I end up not reading at all!
DeleteI think it's interesting how your book moods coincide with the seasons. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteYeah well I don't even know why and when that started - it's weird :)
DeleteI like your honesty! I choose books (when they aren't ARCs I have to read in a certain time) by my mood as well. New follower!
ReplyDeleteMy follow friday! Please visit!
Thanks so much for following! And I have a problem with ARCs exactly because of my weird reading habits sometimes. They have to ft my mood a bit, otherwise I'll put them off for a few days...
DeleteHahahahahaha! I love that! I like how you "seasonalize" your books. That's pure brilliance.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog earlier. :)

Ha, thank you! The seasons - thing is kind of weird :)
DeleteContemporary in spring? Nah for me. I love contemporary too much to have to wait. :D I read them all the time! Hahaha. Thanks for following! Following you back!
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah I don't only read conemporary in spring - but I'll definitely read more of it during that time of the year ;) Then again, I wait to read Sara Zarr's How To Save A Life because I think it's set in winter - so I'll read it then :)
DeleteI tell myself the same thing, I'm putting the book down after this page, yeah rarly happens. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I like your blog, it's cute. :) I'm a new GFC follower.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's so cool that you like my blog! And yeah, I can never put a book down when I find it on my doorstep :)
DeleteI just can't do contemporary stuff either. It's such a rare mood with that stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh, I actually really like contemporary - but I can't read so many in a row, it gets boring. I like to switch genres a bit :)
DeleteOh my goodness, you really are a moody reader!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by :)
